It looks as though 2015 will wrap up with the iPad Air 3 left off Apple's list of releases, and now, people are wondering exactly when the new tablet might be launched.
Before delving deeper into when the iPad Air 3 might be released, it's worth taking a look back to when it was supposedly being launched.
Earlier in the year, it was believed that the iPad Air 3 would be launched sometime in October. This was the assumption mainly because Apple had previously used October to launch their iPad Airs in the past, but that proved to be mistaken.
Instead, Apple caught people off guard by launching the new iPad Pro in September, with the iPad Air 3 having a no show. That ended up being the case even up until now, as the iPad Air 3 remains absent from Apple's lineup.
According to MacWorld UK, one of the more persistent rumors on the iPad Air 3 suggests that the reason for the tablet's absence is the iPad Pro itself. Apple had, apparently, devoted so much of its time and resources to the iPad Pro that there was little left to work with for the iPad Air 3.
The outlook for the iPad Air 3 has gotten so grim that some have even wondered if Apple may have just simply decided to discontinue the product line without making an official announcement.
While the iPad Air 3 may not have been a part of Apple's plans this year, that doesn't mean that it cannot be a part of their collection moving forward.
According to IT Pro UK, the iPad Air 3 is now expected to be launched in September of next year, so the original predictions may have just been a year off.
Apple may have also simply reasoned that releasing the iPad Pro and the iPad Air 3 right around the same time could potentially have been counter-productive, leading to one being delayed.
There's clearly a lot of questions regarding the iPad Air 3, and hopefully, all of those will be answered next year.
