The HTC Vive will soon be hitting stores, probably just not as soon as some people may have hoped for.

Previously, the virtual reality (VR) headset had been tabbed for a December debut, but that timeline is now out the window.

Instead, folks who are eager to get their hands on the VR headset will have to wait just a bit longer as it will first become available in stores beginning April of next year, Tech Times reported.

Both HTC and Valve, the two companies behind the development of the HTC Vive have yet to truly get into why the headset's launch had been delayed until well into next year. The only reason that's been given as of now is that the HTC Vive is still being fine-tuned even further to help grant it the ability to provide owners with the experiences they are truly looking for.

Despite the delay, the HTC Vive is still expected to be showcased later on this month. HTC will be hosting a developer conference in Beijing on Dec. 18 and at least for now, the VR headset is expected to make an appearance at the event.

HTC and Valve will also start making pre-orders for the HTC Vive available starting February 2016.

The full collection of games expected to provide support for the HTC Vive is still unknown, although there are some early titles that people might want to look out for.

Some of the games that are expected to be playable using the HTC Vive include "Ark: Survival Evolved" as well as "Team Fortress 2," according to IT Pro UK.

Considering the HTC Vive's connections to Valve, some are predicting more games from the company's library being announced for the VR headset as well, although additional titles have yet to be officially announced at this point.

More news about the HTC Vive is expected to be made available soon.
