The HTC One M10 has been a fixture in the rumor mill for a while now, and still, there's no consensus on when it might finally be released.

According to PC Advisor UK, people would still be best served to expect the One M10 to arrive by next year, specifically sometime between March and April. This has been the pattern that HTC has followed in previous years with their other flagship releases. Unless the company plans to go in a different direction, then the standard figures to be followed.

Interestingly enough, HTC may indeed have some reason to change things up.

The sales of their recent releases have, apparently, not been what they expected and that may be one reason for why the company could change their game plan, at least in terms of releasing a new phone.

Reports have suggested that if HTC does indeed have designs of releasing the One M10 within the year, they could even do so as early as this month, although rumors are unconfirmed.

Still, the possibility remains that HTC may forge ahead with a different plan for the One M10 just to shake things up and to try to find more success.

One way in which HTC may already be changing things with their supposedly upcoming release is with its name.

According to Pocket Lint, the upcoming release from HTC may not be known as the One M10 and may instead be named as the HTC O2.

It's unclear why HTC would change the name of their upcoming smartphone, although it still figures to be their flagship device for next year.

Regardless of what name it may ultimately have, the rumored HTC smartphone promises to have some interesting features such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and a six-inch QHD display, although these details are not yet confirmed.

More information about the HTC One M10 or the O2 should be available before the end of the year.
