'Gran Turismo 7' release date: beta launch next year?

Gran Turismo 6, the most recent title in the series Sony

There's a lot of confusion surrounding "Gran Turismo 7," but the one thing that is certain is that the game remains without any concrete release date.

Heading into Paris Games Week that ran from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, there were some fans hopeful to hear about "Gran Turismo 7." What they received, instead, was news about an entirely different game named "Gran Turismo Sport."

The developer of "Gran Turismo 7," Polyphony Digital, has already made it clear that "Gran Turismo Sport" is not the continuation of the franchise that fans have been waiting for; rather, it is an entirely different entity.

With that issue clarified, there remains the matter of actually providing a concrete release date for "Gran Turismo 7," and that's one piece of information the developer has yet to reveal.

According to Venture Capital Post, the most that the game's developers were able to commit to in terms of a release window was indicating that they currently plan to have "Gran Turismo 7" out by 2017 at the latest and hopefully some time even earlier than that.

In the place of a specific release date, the game's producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, instead promised fans that there will be a beta for the new racing title that might be available by next year, according to Game Ranx. Yamauchi did not provide an exact arrival date for the game's planned beta.

As for what fans can expect from the next installment of the "Gran Turismo" franchise, the new title will reportedly feature improved graphics along with a better physics engine. The game's developer also suggested that the next game will feature better AI as well as more cars for players to choose from. There is also a rumor suggesting that "Gran Turismo 7" may ultimately provide virtual reality (VR) support when it eventually comes out.

More details about the beta and release date of "Gran Turismo 7" are expected to be revealed in the following months.
