GoPro Hero 5 rumors: New camera to possess enhanced features upon launch

GoPro Hero 4, the most recent iteration of the GoPro cameras GoPro

It's all but assured now that the GoPro Hero 5 won't be released by the end of 2015, but there's, apparently, a good reason for the delay.

Despite the fact that the camera was at one point scheduled to be released in October, folks apparently shouldn't be discouraged by the delay because the new camera will feature enough enhanced tech to make up for it.

Among the rumored enhancements coming to the GoPro Hero 5 will be a new ability that allows it to shoot 8K videos, according to Value Walk.

While the ability to capture 8K videos is certainly a welcome improvement, some are wary of the possibility that the footage may not end up being playable anywhere anyway. Very few platforms, if any, can currently provide support for 8K videos, so even with the feature on hand, it may not be widespread enough to be as attractive an offering as GoPro may like.

The GoPro Hero 5 is also expected to have underwater shooting capabilities upon being released. The camera will reportedly come equipped with unique housing that will allow it pull off underwater shooting. This advancement could help expand the range of possibilities for the GoPro Hero 5 and thus make it a more attractive option for potential buyers.

One more way in which the GoPro Hero 5 is expected to be different from its predecessors is that it will likely be more compact upon release, thus allowing it to be even more useful in more situations.

A specific release date for the GoPro Hero 5 has yet to be announced, although one interesting detail about its launch suggest that it may come out alongside a new drone known as the GoPro Karma, Bidness Etc reported.

The GoPro Karma itself is still a mystery to many consumers, so they will have to wait until next year to learn more about it.

Both the GoPro Hero 5 and the GoPro Karma are expected to be released in 2016.
