Samsung's Galaxy S7 could be a drastically improved phone in at least one area.

The new Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm that is currently rumored to be featured in the Galaxy S7 is expected to improve the phone's performance significantly, to the point that it could be seen as a more than worthy competitor to Apple's brand of chips.

While news of what the Snapdragon 820 chipset can surely excite a lot of Samsung fans, there's also some reason to be just a bit pessimistic for now.

As of now, both Samsung and Qualcomm have yet to confirm that the new chipset will be used in the Galaxy S7, Computerworld reported, and on top of that, the version of the phone containing the coveted chipset may not even be available to everyone.

Previous reports have suggested that Samsung is actually planning on using two different chipsets for the Galaxy S7. Versions of the phone set to be released in the United States and China are expected to feature the Qualcomm variants, while the other iterations of the S7 coming to other regions are seen to feature the Exynos chips.

It's unclear why Samsung is supposedly looking at using two different processors for the Galaxy S7, but if that proves to be true, then some users may be getting the short end of the stick.

Rumors also suggest that the Galaxy S7 is not too far off from being released either.

According to Tech Radar, the new phone could reportedly be launched as early as January. This comes after the phone had previously been rumored to launch by December of this year.

Even if the January rumors turn out to be false, the belief is that the wait will not be too long, with February or March being cited as the latest possible launch dates for the Galaxy S7.
