'Final Fantasy 7' remake news: Game right on track in terms of development, says director

"Final Fantasy VII" Square-Enix

Progress on the "Final Fantasy 7" remake is apparently going nicely, at least according to the game's director.

In an interview with Famitsu that has since been reported on by KH Insider, "Final Fantasy 7" remake director Tetsuya Nomura remarked that the game is currently in a "significant time of development."

Nomura also indicated that "Kingdom Hearts 3" is currently in that same stage of development as well.

Nomura also hinted that more information about the two games should be released within the year.

Lastly, Nomura also indicated that work on the two games is currently progressing very nicely and that both are, apparently, on schedule.

Unfortunately, fans don't know exactly what that schedule is, hence all the uncertainty surrounding both the "Final Fantasy 7" remake and "Kingdom Hearts 3."

The latest comments from Nomura regarding the "Final Fantasy 7" remake are pretty much right in line with what's been officially revealed about the game by other parties involved in its development.

Recently, Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase also talked about the "Final Fantasy 7" remake in an earlier interview with Famitsu that was reported on by Siliconera.

According to Kitase, 2016 will be a "year of preparations" for the remake, and although that comment doesn't directly offer anything substantial, it also seems to hint at the likelihood that the game will not be coming out this year.

Still, with the "Final Fantasy 7" remake progressing as expected, the wait for its debut does not figure to be excruciatingly long.

As Attack of the Fanboy pointed out, the "Final Fantasy 7" remake could debut earlier than expected, mainly because it will be released across several episodes.

Square Enix could easily decide to release the first part of the remake when it is ready, and then continue to work on the game afterward.

If not 2016, then 2017 might be the year when fans finally get to try out the "Final Fantasy 7" remake for themselves.
