'Elder Scrolls 6' release date: Signs pointing to a longer wait than previously believed

The wait for the successor of 'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' continues. Bethesda Softworks

With "Fallout 4" finally coming out this November, many fans are now looking forward to the next big release from Bethesda, which would be "Elder Scrolls 6."

Unfortunately for a lot of "Elder Scrolls" fans, the wait for the next game might be longer than they may have previously anticipated.

Earlier rumors regarding a possible release date for "Elder Scrolls 6" had mentioned that the game could be out as early as 2016, while some even predicted that Bethesda would be ready to launch the game before the end of 2015, Neurogadget.

As it turns out, those may have been exceedingly optimistic predictions, and the reality is that the wait for "Elder Scrolls 6" may be a bit longer.

According to Crossmap, Bethesda has previously established a pattern for releasing "Elder Scrolls" titles.

For instance, Bethesda released "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" back in 2011, and then they followed that up by releasing the "Elder Scrolls Online" this year. If that pattern holds, then that could mean that the next game in the franchise will not be coming out until at least 2019.

Bethesda has, of course, yet to confirm the existence of "Elder Scrolls 6" let alone its release date, and that still opens the door for a myriad of possibilities with regard to the game.

Although no official release date has been set, whether it's 2016 or 2019, what is clear is that may be a while before Bethesda is ready to announce anything new regarding this particular franchise.

In an interview with the Telegraph UK, Pete Hines, Bethesda Softworks' vice president of public relations and marketing, indicated that one of the reasons they take a long time to come out with new releases is they do work on a smaller scale and are more focused on quality.

For now, fans have no choice other than to stay tuned to all the latest news regarding Bethesda and the "Elder Scrolls" franchise to learn when the next game might be released.
