'Dark Souls 3' news: Game's supposed release date leaked; two special editions revealed

Fans of really difficult games supposedly now have a special date on their calendars to look forward to.

That's because the third installment of the famously challenging "Dark Souls" franchise now has an apparent release date, at least according to some images for the game that have emerged online.

If the leaks are to be believed, then the release date of "Dark Souls 3" will be April 12 of next year, according to Gamespot.

Lending some semblance of credibility to the leaks is the appearance of both the Bandai Namco and From Software logos in the images.

Aside from the supposed release date of "Dark Souls 3," the images also showcase what looks to be two different special edition offerings of the game.

The first is the Collector's Edition of "Dark Souls 3," and apart from the copy of the game itself, the entire bundle includes a cloth map, collector's box, a hardcover art book along with some patches, a metal case, and what looks to be a 10-inch red knight.

The second offering is the Prestige Edition, and it is mostly the same package, with the only differences being what looks to be a different kind of collector's box and also what appears to be a 16-inch Lord of Cinder figurine in place of the red knight.

The Collector's Edition bundle of "Dark Souls 3" will reportedly be available for $136 while the Prestige Edition could be on sale for $490.

Bandai Namco has yet to confirm if the leaked listings are accurate.

In related news, "Dark Souls 3" will be making an appearance at next year's EGX Rezzed event to be held in the United Kingdom, according to Hardcore Gamer.

The event is expected to take place at London's Tobacco Dock between April 7 and 9, which could mean that "Dark Souls 3" could be showcased at EGX Rezzed just a week before it is scheduled to be officially released, if the aforementioned leaks are indeed accurate.
