'Assassin's Creed Syndicate' spoilers: Secret character

"Assassin's Creed Syndicate" was billed as the entry from the franchise that finally gave players two playable characters, but it appears that may not be true.

Instead, there appears to be a third playable character that Ubisoft may have neglected to mention as they were marketing "Assassin's Creed Syndicate."

To be clear, finding out the upcoming reveal is optional, so players who may want to discover things for themselves can feel free to look away; but for those who want to find out more about the secret character, reading on is a must.

The other playable character in "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" is a woman by the name of Lydia Frye, and according to Twinfinite, she is the granddaughter of one of the game's main heroes Jacob Frye.

In order to play as Lydia, players will need to find an icon on their map that will show up near the river Thames. It's unclear what causes the icon to show up, but once it does, players can head over there and they will see what appears to be a portal leading to an entirely new world.

Luring them into the new world is the voice of Juno, a character who will most likely be familiar to veterans of the franchise.

Once players enter into the portal, they will step into the shoes of Lydia and find themselves in the World War I-era London. According to Polygon, what's most interesting about this new place is that it will not just be a momentary sequence, and will instead be a smaller world that is still filled with sidequests and collectibles for players to claim.

Players who will venture to complete the missions will also be rewarded by Juno talking openly about various events that have taken place in history.

The Lydia Frye section appears to be missable, so players will be well served to see it for themselves as they make their way through "Assassin's Creed Syndicate."
