Android 6.0 Marshmallow news: New update rolling out to Xperia smartphones

 Sony Mobile's official blog

Sony smartphone owners will be glad to know that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will soon be reaching their precious devices.

Several smartphones have been confirmed as recipients of the upcoming update.

According to Sony Mobile's official blog, the list of smartphones that will be getting the Android Marshmallow update includes the Xperia C4, C5 Ultra, M4 Aqua, M5, Z2, Z3, Z3+, Z3 Compact, Z5, Z5 Compact, and the Z5 Premium.

Sony stated in its official blogsite that they are currently working to make the newest update available to as many smartphones from them as they can in the soonest possible time.

Unfortunately, Sony has yet to confirm when the Android Marshmallow updates might be ready to roll out for the aforementioned list of smartphones.

According to Neurogadget, despite the company not yet committing to any official roll out window for the Android Marshmallow update, most Sony device owners will most likely be best served to expect the new firmware to arrive sometime early next year.

Aside from smartphones, Sony will also be making the Android Marshmallow update available to more than a few of their tablets.

The list of tablets set to receive the newest update currently includes the Xperia Z2 Tablet, Z3 Tablet, and also the Z4 Tablet.

As for what people can expect from the Android Marshmallow update when it does finally arrive for their Sony devices, they can reportedly look forward to some improved features.

According to Trusted Reviews, the firmware's personal assistant, Google Now, is more useful than it has been in the past, especially with it now granting users the ability to access it by simply uttering the phrase "Ok Google" whenever the phone is on the home screen.

A new Now on Tap feature for the personal assistant also enables it to provide more specialized help suitable for people who are always traveling.
