Zeaplus DM360: The Chinese Moto 360 that features a $99 price tag

Motorola is currently working on releasing the successor of its Moto 360 smartwatch, and here we have a Chinese tech firm called Zeaplus that has released its own wearable bearing a striking resemblance to Motorola's offering. According to the company's website, the wearable's name is DM360 and features a price tag of $99. In addition to the price tag, there are other differences that separate both products, such as hardware specifications.

Starting off, DM360 is incorporated with a MediaTek MT2502A SoC; a chipset which happens to be catered primarily for wearables. Moto 360 however, features an obsolete Texas Instruments OMAP 3 SoC. This is why Moto 360 is unable to provide a whole day of battery life, compared to the 70 hour battery backup time listed on Zeaplus' website.

Despite the fact that both wearables feature the same battery capacity of 320 mAh, DM360 looks to be far more energy efficient. However, Zeaplus has had to sacrifice quite a bit in the storage and memory areas, since DM360 only features 32 MB of RAM and 128 MB of storage, in contrast to 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage present in Moto 360.

Furthermore, a 1.22 inch display rendering a 240 by 240 resolution is present on the Chinese clone. However, there are several perks of owning a $99; such as being a dedicated fitness tracking equipment. Given below are the features present in DM360 that will play along nicely with the fitness crowd:

  • Heart rate sensor
  • Sleep monitoring system
  • Calorie counter
  • Bluetooth 4.0 module (for pairing with the owner's smartphone)

According to Android Central, Moto 360's price, which was originally $249, has been reduced to $149, most likely because information concerning the wearable's successor is going to be announced sometime this week. Regardless, DM360 still features a smaller price tag, which should entice the fitness-eccentric crowd of owning an affordable smartwatch that can monitor their body's vitals.
