Xiaomi Mi Note Pro vs. Galaxy S6 specs comparison: Samsung or Xiaomi smartphone?

 Twitter

Samsung was able to bounce back with the release of its flagship smartphone duo, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, while Xiaomi continues to create problems for the remaining global smartphone market with handsets like Mi Note Pro and Mi Note. In pure performance tests, Galaxy S6 is narrowly able to move past Mi Note Pro thanks to the company's own Exynos 7420 SoC, which has been fabricated on the 14 nm FinFET process.

While Snapdragon 810 is a force to be reckoned with, it is unable to beat Samsung's high performing mobile chipset due to its overheating and thermal throttling issues, but most importantly, its 20 nm architecture. However, despite these issues, Mi Note Pro is able to excel in gaming performance when pitted against Galaxy S6, thanks to Snapdragon 810's Adreno 430 GPU. In addition, smartphone users will have more multitasking headroom thanks to 4 GB of RAM incorporated inside Xiaomi's flagship phablet.

Galaxy S6 might feature 3 GB of RAM, but more of it is always recommended. Both handsets render a 1440p resolution, but there are several reasons why Mi Note Pro is able to give more battery life to the user. Firstly, Mi Note Pro has a screen size that measures 5.7 inches compared to Galaxy S6's 5.1 inches. Galaxy S6 will have a higher pixel per inch density compared to the phablet sized smartphone. In addition, Samsung's flagship offering also has a much smaller battery; 2,550 mAh, compared to the 3,000 mAh battery present in Mi Note Pro.

Both smartphones are void of MicroSD card slots, and each smartphone is available in the following on-board memory variants:

  • Galaxy S6: 32/64/128 GB
  • Mi Note Pro: 64 GB

Since Mi Note Pro features a Snapdragon 810 SoC, it automatically means that the device supports Quick Charge 2.0, which provides up to 60 percent battery life to a smartphone after being plugged in for just 30 minutes. While Exynos 7420 is faster than Snapdragon 810, it does not support the Quick Charge 2.0 functionality.

In the end, after noting down all the differences separating the two smartphones, Mi Note Pro wins the skirmish between Galaxy S6. This is because the large screen smartphone is able to provide a larger amount of battery time while sacrificing a small amount of performance.
