WrestleMania 32 is expected to be the WWE's biggest event for this year, and in pursuit of that, the company is reportedly looking to bring back some of their best-known stars, including Batista.
According to sources spoken to by Pro Wrestling Sheet, Batista reportedly made his way to Orlando on the very day of the "Royal Rumble" in order to meet up with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
The meeting was reportedly held so that McMahon could pitch an idea to Batista that involved the former WWE Champion showing up at WrestleMania 32.
Apparently, McMahon's pitch did not include a match for Batista. Instead, McMahon wanted the former WWE Superstar to simply appear at the event in a non-wrestling capacity.
Batista reportedly declined McMahon's initial pitch, but he has supposedly indicated that he is still willing to make a return given the right opportunity.
WWE can reportedly still pitch new ideas to Batista in the hopes that one of them may interest him enough to make a WrestleMania 32 return possible.
Batista is no stranger to making WWE returns, although his most recent run in the WWE still included matches.
Two years ago, Batista returned to the WWE and won the 2014 Royal Rumble. He then went on to headline WrestleMania 30 together with then WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan.
Bryan went on to win the WrestleMania 30 main event after getting Batista to tap out.
Even after his defeat, Batista remained with the WWE up until June 2014, The Inquisitr reported.
It's unclear just how interested Batista is in returning to the WWE, although the company could stand to benefit from the added star power he could bring to WrestleMania 32.
Numerous WWE Superstars including John Cena and Seth Rollins are currently expected to miss this year's WrestleMania, significantly thinning out the company's pool of able-bodied performers.
While Batista may not be wrestling, his return could still spark greater interest in the event and even allow the WWE to draw up something else that could take the place of a match.
For now, Batista's WrestleMania 32 fate remains uncertain, although things can still change at the last minute.
