'Valkyria Chronicles' remake release date in 2016

 Sega

An old PlayStation Portable (PSP) title is coming back to life, and this time around, it is none other than "Valkyria Chronicles" that is getting the remake treatment.

Sega officially announced their plans to revive the franchise recently, and the game remake will reportedly be launched on the PlayStation 4 (PS4).

Thanks in part to the change in platforms, the remade version of "Valkyria Chronicles" will arrive with a few different features. For instance, the remake coming in 2016 is expected to be released with enhanced graphics as well as the downloadable content (DLC) content that was already part of the original series, according to Digital Trends. The remake will also be rewarding players with trophies just like any other PS4 title.

Aside from the original title, there were two other games in the "Valkyria" franchise that were launched later on.

The second entry in the series, known as "Valkyria Chronicles II," was launched in 2010. The second title was also the last one from the franchise to make it to North America.

The third "Valkyria" title, "Senjou no Valkyria 3," was released back in 2011, although this last game was made available only in Japan.

After that, a personal computer (PC) port of the original "Valkyria Chronicles" game was released in 2014.

The good news for fans is that aside from the remake, they will also be getting a sequel, which will be known as "Valkyria: Azure Revolution." A demo of "Azure Revolution" will be included along with the remake of the original game when it launches on Feb. 10, 2016, according to Techno Buffalo.

At this point, Sega has not yet announced when "Azure Revolution" will be released, though it is also expected to come out in 2016.

The bad news, at least for some fans, is that the both the PS4 remake and the new game in the series are currently scheduled to be launched only in Japan. No word yet on whether or not both games could make their way to North America eventually.
