Tim Tebow considers coaching career: 'It's mentoring and it's loving and it's being a father figure'

The love that former NFL star and current SEC analyst Tim Tebow has for football is undeniable, and as much as he would love to go play professional football again, it does not seem like it would happen anytime soon.

However, Tebow is not considering himself a retired football player just yet, and he is definitely not closing doors on the sport.

"I think I consider myself someone that is so blessed to do what I love to do and to be around the game of college football and to be able to be part of something that was so much a part of my life since I was a little boy," he tells The Associated Press. "But also I've got a lot of different things going on right now."

One avenue that Tebow is considering is coaching. The Christian athlete explains that guiding young kids towards the right path is so important these days when there are so many cultural divides.

"I love what coaching is. I love the fact that coaching is teaching and it's helping and it's mentoring and it's loving and it's being a father figure. That is something that has always intrigued me," he says.

But if not football, Tebow wouldn't mind delving into politics. He might have turned down a speaking opportunity during the Republican National Convention recently, but Tebow's heart is definitely in the right place when it comes to helping fellow Americans.

He says his goal has always been to make the biggest impact that he possibly could have in people's lives. "If I thought this is the right avenue, this would work, then I would be totally up for going down that path. Do I feel like that's right now? No, not necessarily. Could it happen in the future? Yeah, I definitely wouldn't write that off," he says.
