'Tekken 7' release date update: Rumors of a 2016 arrival to consoles persist

"Tekken 7" Bandai Namco

It's been increasingly difficult to pin down an exact release date for "Tekken 7," but the latest rumors are pointing to the game arriving sooner rather than later.

The rumors are even pointing to a possibly credible source this time around for the supposed release date for "Tekken 7."

According to Koi-Nya, and subsequently reported by iDigital Times, Bandai Namco Marketing Manager David Fraile La Ossa reportedly indicated that "Tekken 7" would be available for consoles by 2016. Fraile La Ossa was believed to have indicated as much during Madrid Games Week, although there appears to be some confusion regarding this matter.

According to a statement from Bandai Namco Entertainment Iberica that was also gathered by iDigital Times regarding the issue, the previous comments were reportedly directed towards "Tekken 7" finally making its way to arcades in several Spanish cities. Fraile La Ossa's comments, apparently, had nothing to do with the game's console release.

Bandai Namco remains adamant that they are not yet ready to provide any official comment regarding the release of the new fighting game.

At this point, fans seem to have no other choice than to just wait things out when it comes to the possible console release date of "Tekken 7."

In related news, the rumored roster of "Tekken 7" continues to grow.

According to Venture Capital Post, characters familiar to "Tekken" fans in the forms of Anna, Nina, and Kuma are reportedly set to show up in the latest installment of the franchise.

The three characters have appeared in numerous games from the "Tekken" franchise in the past, so them being included here does not constitute much of a surprise.

The trio will join the "Tekken 7" roster that already includes new names such as Claudio Serafino, Gigas, Jack-7, Josie Rizal, Katarina Alves, Kazumi Mishima, Lucky Chloe, and Shaheen, according to Yibada

That's on top of the other older characters that are already part of the "Tekken 7" roster.
