Sony Xperia Z4 vs. Xperia P2 specs; Two flagship smartphones battle it out

Sony Xperia Z4 was expected to be the company's flagship smartphone, but it appears that the Japanese tech firm has something else planned for the foreseeable future. According to GSMArena, Xperia P2 is another smartphone that Sony intends on targeting the global market with. In terms of hardware specifications, both Xperia P2 and Xperia Z4 are similar in some fronts, and are separated by a few minor differences. However, even these differences can make or break the purchasing decision of a consumer.

Similar to Xperia Z4, Xperia P2 will feature a 5.2 inch screen size, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 along with 3 GB of RAM and an Adreno 430 GPU. However, Xperia P2 is going to be the thicker device out of the two since it packs a much larger battery. The device will be equipped with a 4,240 mAh battery compared to Xperia Z4's 2,930 mAh. It has not been confirmed if Snapdragon 810 is the latest version present in both smartphones. Previous chipset versions have a tendency of overheating and thermally throttling, which are two attributes that Qualcomm has received severe criticism for.

Where Xperia Z4 outshines its counterpart is in the image capturing department. While both handsets will be able to capture 4K videos at a steady 30 frames per second, Z4's 20.7 MP rear camera sensor will be able to produce images boasting a much higher resolution compared to the 12 MP shooter present on Xperia P2.

Courtesy of improved hardware present in both smartphones, Xperia Z4 and Xperia P2 support the Quick Charge 2.0 functionality, which increases the battery level to 60 percent after being plugged in for a period of just 30 minutes. However, a compatible charger that supports the aforementioned feature must also be used in order to take advantage of the fast-charging method. Concluding this comparison, it appears that Xperia P2 will be the better purchase out of the two, even though it possesses an inferior camera sensor compared to Xperia Z4.

However, the remainder of the tiny differences separating both devices all go in the favor of Sony's upcoming handset.
