Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date specs rumors roundup: 5.9 inch screen, 4,100 mAh battery, and Type-C USB port

Earlier reports of Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 stated that the phablet sized smartphone would feature a Super AMOLED display that would render the 4K resolution. Now in addition to the large amount of pixels emanating from that display, Concept phones have reported that Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 is expected to feature a lot more. Starting off, the South Korean smartphone giant will incorporate a 5.9 inch screen instead of the 5.7 inch one that it had maintained for Galaxy Note 4 and Note 3.

Since the 4K resolution will consume far more battery life compared to a 1440p one, Galaxy Note 5 is expected to come equipped with a 4,100 mAh lithium polymer battery instead of a lithium ion one. Lithium polymer batteries are more expensive to manufacture compared to lithium ion batteries but are able to sustain their overall charge for longer charging cycles. If Galaxy Note 5's rumored screen size turns out to be true, then it will provide sufficient space for Samsung to accommodate a large capacity battery.

Seeing as how the Type-C USB port will gain popularity in the future, Galaxy Note 5 is expected to feature this particular connectivity port. In order to make amends for not providing an expandable storage option in the Galaxy S6 family, the upcoming handset might feature a microSD slot, along with on-board memory that will exceed the 128 GB capacity. Since the tech giant is one of the pioneers of NAND flash memory, the company could utilize its 3D V-NAND technology to assimilate higher performing and long lasting memory chipsets in its upcoming smartphone.

Last, but certainly not least, Galaxy Note 5 is being rumored to sport a dual-curved edged display. Unlike Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note Edge (which only feature one curved edge display), users will be able to perform tasks and fire up applications by using both edges of the screen. This will end up increasing the user's efficiency to a whole new platform without opening the primary display of their device. Samsung will be looking to showcase Galaxy Note 5 during the month of September, which is the same month that the company unveiled its Note 4 last year.
