Pope Francis offers prayers for speedy recovery of Michael Schumacher

While former F1 champion Michael Schumacher continues his gradual recovery, he is receiving some support from none other than Pope Francis.

During a recent visit to the F1 Headquarters in Rome, Pope Francis also inquired about Schumacher's condition from Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) President Jean Todt.

After learning of Schumacher's condition from Todt, Pope Francis then said that he would be praying for the former F1 Champion's quick recovery.

There is currently not much known about the condition of Schumacher, although some people close to the award-winning driver have indicated that things are still not well.

Todt himself indicated that seeing Schumacher in his current condition has been "painful," ESPN UK reported.

Schumacher is continuing to recover from injuries he sustained during a skiing accident in December 2013.

Due to the accident, Schumacher incurred brain damage that could have been near fatal.

Schumacher was also put into a medically induced coma for four months as part of the recovery process, the Telegraph UK reported.

Since then, the former F1 Champion has been transported to his home in Switzerland where he now continues the lengthy recovery process.

The award-winning driver's family has been reluctant to provide any specific details about his condition.

In related news, Schumacher's son Mick was able to make a successful debut on the racetrack recently.

As NDTV Sports reported, the younger Schumacher was able to secure a third place finish during the fourth round of the MRF Championship at Irungattukottai that took place in Chennai, India.

Mick participated only in the Indian leg of the MRF Championship, opting not to race in the earlier parts that were held in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, and Dubai.

It's currently unclear if Mick is planning to participate in a race any time soon after his impressive debut in Chennai.

More news about Michael Schumacher should be made available in the future.
