'Pokémon Go' release date to be announced at GDC? what to expect

More information could be revealed about "Pokémon Go" soon, and that may very well include the game's release date.

As of now, Niantic, the game's developer, has revealed that they will be talking more about "Pokémon Go" at this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC) taking place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

John Hanke, the CEO of Niantic, will be the one talking about the game at the event and he is expected to touch on a variety of different topics.

According to the official website of the GDC, Hanke is expected to talk about how Niantic has managed to develop a "unique experience for delivering a mobile Pokémon experience" during his time at the event.

Folks who will be attending the talk for "Pokémon Go" will also be getting a firsthand look at how player interactions will function inside the game.

As of now, it's unknown if Hanke will be talking about other specific details regarding the game, although it could provide the developer with the ideal platform to formally announce its release date.

Fans have been waiting to hear about the official launch date for "Pokémon Go" ever since the augmented-reality title was announced back in September.

Unfortunately, specific details about any probable release date have been unavailable thus far, although the game is expected to be launched sometime this year, GameSpot reported.

If "Pokémon Go's" developers truly want to have the eyes of the gaming world upon them when they are ready to make their big release date announcement, then there may be no better time to do so than during the GDC.

In addition to "Pokémon Go," "Pokémon Z" is also expected to be launched sometime in 2016.

There is, apparently, a chance that both "Pokémon Go" and "Pokémon Z" could be launched at the same time, according to Neurogadget, so more details about the latter title could also be revealed during the GDC.

For now, all fans can do is keep an eye out for the GDC that is set to begin on March 14 to find out more about "Pokémon Go" and perhaps even "Pokémon Z."
