On the heels of the success of "Pokémon Go," another mobile gaming app featuring colorful monsters and creatures is headed for the smartphones. This new Pokémon game, dubbed "Pokéland," is inspired by the Nintendo Wii's "Pokémon Rumble." The game is currently undergoing an Alpha test for Android devices in Japan, which will end on Friday, June 9.

"Pokéland" features the low-poly toy monsters from Pokémon and the gameplay has similarities to "Pokémon Rumble." Here, players have a goal of collecting 134 different pocket monsters across different islands that players will have to unlock.

Players will also need to finish 52 stages and reach the highest floor of the Champion Towers. Within the game, players can acquire several Gear and P, which can be used to power up their monsters.

"Pokéland" will require an internet service for playing. The gaming app will be free-to-play on both Android and iOs once the tests are completed.

Sign-ups to the testing phase are still open for those who can read and speak Japanese. One caveat to joining the Alpha test is that players won't be able to transfer their progress when the final version of the mobile gaming app goes public. There is also still no detail on when the mobile app will be made available outside of the Japanese market.

In announcing "Pokéland," Nintendo also officially launched the game's website where there's an FAQ section. Users with Nintendo accounts can link this up to the app so that their Mii character can pop up within the game or they can gain more My Nintendo rewards.

News of "Pokéland" comes just days after Nintendo confirmed the release and availability of its "Magikarp Jump" mobile app featuring another Pokémon character, the Magikarp fish. Pokémon also released "Pokémon Duel," a strategy-based mobile gaming app released last April.
