When the time-hopping British-American television drama series "Outlander" first aired in 2014, fans had to wait for about six months when the show went on a mid-season break. The waiting period between Season 1 and Season 2 meanwhile lasted for over a year.

These agonizing long breaks between "Outlander" episodes have prompted loyal views to invent a term to describe it: "Droughtlander." Well, the "Droughtlander" will not have to take long before Season 3 comes back on air, according to one of the series' bosses.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "Outlander" producer Matt Roberts revealed that people behind the show were already aware that they were getting a third season even before the Starz network made the announcement that the series will be renewed for Seasons 3 and 4.

"We get excited when we get just a back-nine pickup, so two seasons was unheard of. We're very excited. Just from inside information, yes, we knew we were going to do season three for sure," Roberts said in the interview.

He said this information enabled the writers of "Outlander" to continuously plot out how the show will proceed for its third season.

"We haven't stopped working, and we just went straight over from season two to season three. We carried the writers room over and a few people in Scotland continued to prep for next season," Roberts said.

The "Outlander" producer further explained that this will allow them to air the third season of the TV series faster, and to cut the waiting time for their avid viewers shorter.

"Outlander is a beast of a show to produce, so if we took a normal break, a regular hiatus like a normal show, we would already be behind. Now the fans can have it sooner than what they think. The Droughtlander won't be as long as they expect," he explained.
