Nintendo has just revealed which games emerged as the top choices for Wii U and 3DS owners.

The two lists of top games were the products of polling done on Nintendo's Miiverse, Attack of the Fanboy reported.

Starting off with the Wii U, the game fans chose as the top choice for the platform was none other than "Splatoon." The Nintendo title made waves in the industry, thanks to its unique take on the shooting game genre. Instead of providing players with the more adult-themed content prevalent in many shooters, "Splatoon" goes in a different direction and features whimsical gameplay involving ink projectiles that can be suitable for all members of the family.

Second on the list of top games for the Wii is "Super Mario Maker." The game allows players to create their own "Mario" levels using elements and items that appeared in earlier entries of the series.

Rounding out the top three for the Wii U is the futuristic role-playing-game (RPG) "Xenoblade Chronicles X." In "Xenoblade Chronicles X," players are tasked with exploring a vast new world that is among the largest ever seen in any game.

As for the Nintendo 3DS, Miiverse users chose "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D" as the handheld's top offering, IGN reported. Interestingly enough, even though the original "Majora's Mask" was released 15 years ago, fans are still in love enough with the game to vote an updated version of it as a top offering.

Occupying the second spot is "The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes," which provides players with a multiplayer adventure title featuring some familiar faces.

Finishing in third for the 3DS is "Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate," which is the latest entry into an action RPG franchise featuring some gigantic creatures.

With 2015 nearing its end, fans can now look forward to new games coming to both the Wii U and the 3DS soon.
