'Nightwing' cast news: Nick Jonas would love to be DCEU's Dick Grayson

Some netizens have made it a goal to see Nick Jonas in the Nightwing suit, and it turns out the singer-actor wants it to happen, too. Jonas recently revealed he is ready to suit up as a superhero in DC's upcoming "Nightwing," should he be offered the role.

Speaking to Comic Book for "Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle," Jonas was asked whether he would consider playing Dick Grayson on the big screen as many fans are campaigning for him to play the part. While he did not provide any indication of being a fan of Batman's former sidekick or comic books in general, the idea of portraying the character did excite him. In fact, he thinks it would be "awesome."

"I would. I'd be super down for this," the "Jealous" hitmaker told the publication. "I didn't know there was people vying for me to play this role but keep the chatter alive people! If you vote for me, maybe they'll cast me in it! And then, I don't know, I'll thank you all later."

"Nightwing" has yet to cast the lead role, but Jonas is not the first one linked to it. He joins a pool of celebrities like "American Horror Story" star Finn Wittrock, "Stranger Things" actor Dacre Montgomery, and more recently Dev Patel who are also in the running.

Although most of them would make a great Boy Wonder, director Chris McKay previously said they are taking their time in casting Dick Grayson because they need to find the perfect actor. To do that, he announced they are holding an open casting call, urging aspirants to have an agent or manager submit their work to the studio.

Unfortunately, the fate of McKay's "Nightwing" is up in the air for now. With "Justice League's" underperformance both critically and at the box office, Warner Bros.' entire DC Extended Universe is in jeopardy moving forward. At this juncture, the only movies with confirmed release dates are "Aquaman," "Shazam," and "Wonder Woman 2."

Still, there will be more of Jonas on the big screen in the coming months. He will appear in "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" later this month as Alex, the mysterious guide reminiscent to Robin Williams' role in the first movie. He is also slated to play a part in the "Night at the Museum" sequel, "Careful What You Wish For," and the mixed martial arts TV show "Kingdom."
