The vice president of Nigeria is encouraging his fellow Christian faithful in the African nation — some of whom are being persecuted — to always believe in God and pray that their country and its current government will always be blessed.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria's second highest elected official and a Christian pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, recently participated at the Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries interdenominational crusade held at the Abuja International Stadium, located in the country's capital.

During the event, Osinbajo assured Christians in Nigeria that God will always bless them and their country, in line with the crusade's theme: "God Has Sworn to Bless You."

The Nigerian vice president said the theme of the event was inspired by God Himself, and is an indication that his nation will continue to be blessed.

"When God swears, then you know that there shall be abundance of different kind of miracles to be expected by everybody. I am expecting my own miracle today," the Christian pastor-turned-politician said, as quoted by The Guardian.

He cited a Bible verse from the Old Testament's Book of Numbers to further convince Nigerian Christians of God's continued blessings: "God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?"

Osinbajo also stressed to the audience during the event how powerful God is.

At the same time, he also urged his fellow Christian faithful to repent their sins to be able to reap God's blessings.

"I want you to know that our God, the omnipotent, omnipresence and omniscience, has sworn to bless you and our nation," he said.

The 59-year-old Christian pastor was elected as Nigeria's vice president during polls last year. He was also a former state attorney general and commissioner of justice in the Nigerian state of Lagos.
