"Mortal Kombat X" fans are already looking forward to the debut of the new downloadable characters (DLC) characters, but in order to get the most out of the new content, they may also have to tune into an upcoming live action series.

As fans familiar with "Mortal Kombat X" already know, the upcoming DLC, "Kombat Pack 2," will be featuring a new character known as Tri-borg.

More than a few fans were caught off guard by Tri-borg's inclusion, mainly because they don't know a lot about this new character. That may have been done intentionally, however, as Crossmap speculated that the upcoming live action series, known as "Mortal Kombat: Generations," will be the one to fill in the blanks when it comes to Tri-borg.

It's not just Tri-borg who will be featured in the series, however, as the new show is also expected to feature Bo' Rai Cho. "Mortal Kombat X" players will note that Bo' Rai Cho is yet another character coming to the game via the upcoming "Kombat Pack 2."

"Mortal Kombat: Generations" is also expected to feature other characters from "Mortal Kombat X" such as Cassie Cage, Erron Black, and Takeda.

It's unclear what exactly "Mortal Kombat: Generations" will be like, although it is expected to pick up where "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" left off a while back.

It's also likely not a coincidence that both "Kombat Pack 2" and the upcoming live action series are set to be released right around the same time frame as Design and Trend pointed out. Releasing both at the same time could help bolster interest in the two offerings, although "Mortal Kombat" fans will have the final say in that.

As for the two other DLC characters coming to "Mortal Kombat X" in Leatherface and the Alien Xenomorph, the pair will probably not be included in "Mortal Kombat: Generations," given that they are guest characters.
