Baseball fans can mark March 29 on their calendars, as that is the official launch date of "MLB 16: The Show."
News of the game's official launch date was announced during the keynote address at Sony's PlayStation Experience event that took place over the weekend in San Francisco, Gamespot reported.
A gameplay video was also showcased during the event, and it gave fans a closer look at one of the new features being introduced in "MLB 16: The Show."
The new feature, known as ShowTime, will allow players to basically slow down time during critical moments in a game, thus putting them in a better position to make spectacular plays both with the bat and the glove, according to a post on the official PlayStation blog coming courtesy of the game's developer SCEA San Diego.
On top of the new feature, "MLB 16: The Show" will also be introducing an updated Road to the Show gameplay mode. The revamped Road to the Show mode will reportedly include more personalization, gameplay rewards, and a new system as well. According to the game's developer, the Road to the Show mode in "MLB 16: The Show" will finally allow players to progress through an entire series of matches without having to constantly go back to the main menu.
The cover athlete for next year's game has also been announced, and it is none other than recently crowned American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Josh Donaldson. Aside from winning the AL MVP, Donaldson also helped the Toronto Blue Jays capture the American League East division title as the team's primary third baseman. He also helped guide the team to an appearance in the American League Championship Series, before they were eventually eliminated by the Kansas City Royals.
The PlayStation 4 version of "MLB 16: The Show" is now available for pre-order, with the standard edition on sale for $59.99. "MLB 16: The Show" will also be coming to the PlayStation 3.
