The end may be near for one of Microsoft's smartphone lines, as the Lumia 650 is rumored to be the last one that will be released under the Lumia brand.

According to Windows Central, it is likely that the Lumia 650 will be the last one from the series that is released this year. There is also a chance that it is simply the last Lumia to make it to the market.

The website also suggests that rumors of Microsoft planning to launch the Lumia 750 and 850 at this year's Mobile World Congress are also false. Those two phones may have even been scrapped a while ago, thus making an appearance at the Mobile World Congress highly unlikely.

All that means is that the supposed Feb. 1 launch for the Lumia 650 will be a sort of farewell for the series.

Microsoft is also not expected to hold a special event for the launch of the Lumia 650, and instead, folks who may be interested in learning more about the phone's pricing and availability will likely be able to do so by going to the company's official blog.

Leaks and rumors have also begun to put forth an idea of what the Lumia 650 will be like.

The phone will reportedly feature either the Snapdragon 210 or 212 as its processor, and it is also expected to have a 5-inch HD display, according to NDTV.

Microsoft's upcoming smartphone is also expected to have 1 GB of RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage. The Lumia 650 will reportedly feature microSD support for those looking for more memory.

The upcoming Microsoft smartphone is also believed to have an 8-megapixel rear camera along with one upfront that provides 5 megapixels.

With the Lumia series reportedly nearing its end, Microsoft is now expected to devote more of its resources and energy to developing new devices under the Surface brand.
