Microsoft Lumia 950 vs. Samsung Galaxy S6 comparison: How the two phones differ?

The Microsoft Lumia 950 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 are two phones coming from big name brands, but just how do these devices compare to one another?

A good place to start is with the processors of both phones.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset to aid with its processing needs, while the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with the company's very own 64 bit octa-core Exynos processor.

Moving on to the memory capacities of both phones, first off, the Microsoft's Lumia 950 has 3 GB of RAM along with 32 GB of internal storage that can be expanded all the way up to 200 GB with a microSD card, according to GSM Arena.

The Galaxy S6 also has 3 GB of RAM, but this phone comes with three different variants in terms of internal storage capacities — 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128GB. Unfortunately, the storage offerings of the S6 are fixed at those intervals as they cannot be expanded upon, according to Android Central.

Next up will be the displays of the two phones. The Microsoft Lumia 950 has a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the Galaxy S6 also comes with an AMOLED display, although it is a touch smaller at 5.1 inches. The Galaxy S6 also has those dual curved edges.

The Lumia 950 features a 20-megapixel camera at the back that is paired up with one up front capable of providing five megapixels. The Galaxy S6 has a 16-megapixel rear camera and one up front that is also at five megapixels.

Both phones will be featuring different operating systems (OS) right out of the box.

Microsoft's Lumia 950 will have the still relatively new Windows 10 OS ready to go for its users, while those who will opt for the Galaxy S6 from Samsung will get to use the Android Lollipop 5.0 OS, with the possibility that the Marshmallow update could be coming soon.
