Last month, gaming fans got some really exciting news when it was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" and its sequel are officially getting a relaunch.
The good news, however, raised the possibility that the fate of "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3" may be in limbo if the older titles end up having a successful transition.
Game & Guide reported in June how Marvel announced that "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" and "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2" will both be available in PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 before this month ends.
There was also a teaser for "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3" during the San Diego Comic-Con last month.
However, the gaming website separately reported that "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3" will be released based on the fan interest generated by the relaunch of "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" and "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2."
It was also reported that some fans think that Marvel will use the relaunch of "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" and its sequel as a stepping stone for the release of "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3."
In addition to these, ComicBook.com also reported that a positive response could lead to "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3" being developed soon after the relaunch.
"The second Ultimate Alliance released back in 2009, and with Marvel Studios rolling at a good pace with their film franchises, it makes sense that Activision would look to capitalise with a few remasters. If they do well, perhaps we'll get an Ultimate Alliance 3 somewhere down the line," the website reported.
Well, fans expecting the release of "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3" need not lose hope now. Mike Jones, who is producing the re-release of the two "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" games, did not completely shut the doors to Ultimate Alliance 3 during the Comic-Con open forum.
"Following the footsteps of a proud Marvel tradition, I'll say anything is possible, true believers!" Jones told the audience during the event, as quoted by Game & Guide.
