Mark Burnett praises TLC for pulling the plug on '19 Kids and Counting'

"A.D. The Bible Continues" producer Mark Burnett believes that TLC Network did the right thing when it stopped the airing of "19 Kids and Counting" following the revelation of Josh Duggar's child molestation past.

"I think David Zaslov did the right thing pulling that off," Burnett said of the Discovery Communications president who oversees TLC. "Clearly, it's an icky situation, to say the least."

Given the media frenzy and public furore caused by the scandal, Burnett believes some networks would have pushed through with the remaining episodes to rake in more ratings.

"A lesser company would have tried to profit off of it, failing to realize how many people have been hurt and emotionally scarred," Burnett further said. "I think they should be applauded for taking it off."

However, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" star June Shannon is slamming TLC Network for coddling the Duggars amid the scandal.

When news surfaced that she was allegedly dating a former child molester, the network cancelled her show just seven hours after. Shannon denied the allegations and still denies it to this day.

"I do think it's a double standard," Shannon told The Wrap. "They're kind of like backing them. They have a lot of high exec people hanging out with them."

She even suspects that TLC has been coaching the Duggars on how to handle this scandal and instructed them on what to say during their interview with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly of "The Kelly File."

"They're telling them what to say, or what to do, or not what to do, because that's how they worked with us. 'This is what you're gonna say, you're gonna stick to it,'" Shannon said. "When we went through the cancelling of the show, they wouldn't let us put our own statements out. They wrote them up and they were released to the public as a write-up mock interview."
