Loic Remy has reportedly arrived in Boston for a medical as his expected £8.5m transfer to Liverpool remains on the table.

The Reds are in the US for some pre-season friendlies and the Express reports the French international could make his debut with the club as early as this Sunday in their match against Olympiacos.

The Mirror said Brendan Rogers was refusing to be pinned down on whether the QPR striker had actually signed to the club.

Speaking to reporters in Boston on Tuesday, he said: "Until they are signed and agreed to come in I will only talk about them then," he said.

"I shall not talk about speculation on any player until they have signed."

The Daily Mail's Dominic King reports Remy already completed his medical on Tuesday, with the results due back on Thursday. If this were the case, King speculates there is a good chance the transfer will be confirmed by the weekend.

The addition of Remy would bulk up the attacking power of the Reds, who have a pretty big gap to fill up front following Luis Suarez's departure.

The Reds are also reported to be eyeing Atletico Madrid defender Javier Manquillo.  The Mirror reports they are in "advanced talks" with the La Liga winners to loan the 20-year-old for the next season.

It's been a busy summer of signings for Liverpool, with new arrivals including Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert.

Rodgers is also reportedly confident that a deal will soon be done with long-time transfer target Dejan Lovren, despite the last £20m offer being turned down in June.

Southampton have made clear they won't accept anything other than a large sum for the Croatian defender and the figure on the table is reported to be around £16m.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman said: "I don't want to lose him but, if he leaves he will only go for a top price."
