LG G5 specs rumors; release date in early 2016

LG's next big release might take place very early on in 2016.

In past years, LG has been content to allow other companies such as HTC and Samsung to release their new flagships before they acted, according to Digital Trends. LG may not be following that pattern when it comes to the G5, as the company is now reportedly planning to release their new phone within the first quarter of 2016.

If LG does not release the G5 within the first quarter of next year, the company will still in all likelihood launch the new phone before the 2016 calendar turns to July.

At this point, there's not much known about the LG G5, but the rumor mill has done a good job of producing enough to enable folks to get a handle on what the new phone might be like.

Numerous rumors have now emerged regarding the LG G5, and they are pointing to new features.

First off, the G5 could finally provide LG with the opportunity to move forward even further with their desire to overhaul the overall build of the G series.

For the G4, LG decided to move away from plastic in favor of a unique leather look, but that may no longer be the case with the G5, according to Tech Radar. This time around, it is believed that LG G5 will follow the lead of other companies and simply provide an all-metal build for their new launch.

Another one of the more interesting rumors surrounding the LG G5 suggests that the new phone may offer retina scanning as opposed to the fingerprint-based technology that is seen in other phones.

It's worth noting that the rumor mill is anything but unified in suggesting a retina scanner for the G5 as some outlets suggest that the next phone will feature the same fingerprint-based tech that has become popular in recent years.
