Lenovo K80 vs. Asus Zenfone 2; battle for price/performance smartphone spot

Companies like Lenovo and Asus have been focusing on snaring a larger smartphone market with the release of devices carrying impressive hardware specifications, but a killer price tag. On this occasion, Lenovo's K80 and Asus' Zenfone 2 both feature 4 GB of RAM and price tags of $290 and $285 respectively (Zenfone 2's highest performing model has been introduced here).

While both handsets feature the same 5.5 inch screen size and 1080p resolution, Lenovo K80 will take the crown when battery life is taken in to account thanks to its whopping 4,000 mAh lithium ion battery. In comparison, Zenfone 2 is only equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery, even though it's a lithium polymer type, which is superior but more expensive to manufacture than lithium ion batteries.

Moving on, both devices support the dual-SIM compatibility feature, 4 GB of RAM, and LTE Category 4 modem and are running Google's Lollipop 5.0 update 'out of the box'. However, the primary differences are highlighted in the performance section, where Intel's Atom Z3580 SoC, which is present in Zenfone 2, is able to overpower the Z3560 present in Lenovo's K80. Additionally, Asus' offering is also armed with an 802.11 ac wireless adapter (which also supports dual-band functionality), while K80 only features an 802.11 n dual-band adapter.

There are several on-board memory variants of Zenfone 2 to purchase, and is available in the 16, 32 and 64 GB capacities. In contrast, K80 is only available in 64 and 32 GB (the 32 GB model features 2 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB). Furthermore, while both devices provide support for expandable storage, K80 is limited to a 32 GB microSD card, while Zenfone goes all the way up to 64 GB.

Both smartphones feature the same rear and front camera sensors (13 and 5 megapixels), along with an OIS chip for stabilized photographs. If consumers are looking for a device that will provide them with additional battery while sacrificing a small amount of performance, then Lenovo's K80 is the best possible smartphone that they can acquire. Zenfone 2 features all the goods in a price/performance handset that can deliver performance on both processing and wireless connectivity fronts, along with more storage. If customers are looking for the aforementioned features, then purchasing a Zenfone 2 will be their best purchase yet.

Given below is a table highlighting all the important hardware specifications separating the two smartphones.
