Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott gives Carrie Underwood some parenting advice

Soon-to-be mother Carrie Underwood is really excited to have her first child with husband Mike Fisher this spring, so good friend and fellow artist Hillary Scott, more popularly known as Lady Antebellum is helping her out by sharing some parenting advice, especially on how Underwood should balance motherhood and her career.

"Carrie and I are really good friends and it was an honest, expectant and new mum conversation," Scott told PEOPLE.

Scott herself is still quite new to motherhood with 18-month-old Eisele Kaye, and she learned from experience that having a baby is definitely a "weird transition at first."

"You feel like you have to split your brain because you're in a mummy mode and then you've got to work at such an intense job, too," she explained.

She told Underwood not to worry too much about noise upsetting babies, since newborns have the ability to sleep through almost anything. "I told Carrie, 'Don't try to cater the noise thing to the baby because they'll sleep through it,'" she said. "Let your dogs bark! I know she loves her dogs – they are her babies too."

When it comes to the tour bus, Scott had a lot of suggestions too, such as having the bus walls heavily padded and having a monitor installed in the bunk so Underwood can check on her baby anytime, no matter where she is.

And of course, nothing will benefit Underwood more than finding the perfect nanny. "A lot of it is finding a really great nanny — someone who can be on the road and understand that life and schedule," noted Scott.

Scott has no doubt that her good friend will navigate through motherhood with ease. "I'm so excited for her," she said. "She's going to be an amazing mum."
