Whether or not "Kingdom Hearts 3" is the last game from the iconic crossover series between Square Enix and Disney does not appear to be clear one way or another.

In a recent interview with Nowgamer, "Kingdom Hearts 3" director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the fate of the franchise may not be as bright or as grim as may have been previously thought.

In the interview, Nomura revealed that a discussion to end the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise has not "come up" between him and Disney. He added that since discussions have been lacking thus far, he does not really know what Disney's plans are for the franchise.

Whether or not the lack of any conversation about the future of the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise between Nomura and Disney is a good thing or not is still uncertain at this point, although with a new game in development, the lack of any dialogue may just be the result of both parties opting to devote more of their time to simply making the next offering as good as it can be.

For now, the conversation about the potential end of the "Kingdom Hearts" series may have to wait, and in the meantime, fans can look forward to a new title that could be offering a lot of improvements.

In an earlier interview with Engadget, Nomura talked about some of the improvements that will be coming to "Kingdom Hearts 3."

According to Nomura, the upcoming game will feature a world that is significantly larger than the ones seen in earlier titles.

Nomura also revealed that fans will have to endure shorter loading times, which should come as welcome news to long-time players.

Unfortunately, no release date has currently been announced for "Kingdom Hearts 3," although it is expected to be ready by next year.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" will be released for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
