Teams in the NBA are in a lot of pressure to beef up their line-ups now more than ever. This is after star Oklahoma City Thunder's star small forward, Kevin Durant, announced that he is transferring to the 2016 Finals runner-up, the Golden State Warriors.
As with other teams, the Houston Rockets is serious about building a powerhouse team, and the squad seems to be headed to assembling one. According to various reports, two players may become welcome additions to the Rockets: Russell Westbrook and Goran Dragic.
TheBitBag.com reported that the Oklahoma City Thunders is considering parting ways with its point guard, Westbrook, who is going to be a free agent at the end of next season. The Thunders reportedly may consider fielding offers for Westbrook if the team is not able to strike a deal with the player.
The website said that if the Thunders make this decision, Westbrook may end up with the Rockets. This means a possible reunion with his former teammate James Harden, and greater chances for the Rockets to break through in the competitive Western Conference.
A report from Sportsrageous.com meanwhile said that the Miami Heat may undergo major rebuilding after the departure of Dwayne Wade, and this may mean trading Goran Dragic.
Just like Westbrook, Dragic may end up with the Rockets. Tom Habestroh of ESPN commented that the Rockets is the best possible team for the Slovenian professional basketball player.
"One team to watch: The Rockets, who may be interested in a Dragic reunion to help beef up their squad. The Heat could do a sign-and-trade involving 25-year-old Donatas Motiejunas, who is a restricted free agent," Haberstroh wrote, as quoted by Sportsrageous.com
"Or if the Heat don't want to take back Motiejunas' contract, they could just opt for a package of Patrick Beverley, Corey Brewer, and picks," he added.
