The Houston Rockets could soon have big decision to make with regard to two of their young players.
Both Terrence Jones and Donatas Motiejunas have made it through the Nov. 2 deadline without signing a contract extension with the Rockets.
With the two players not signing contract extensions, this means that they will now be eligible to enter the market next summer as restricted free agent, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Given their status, the two players could end up signing big money long-term deals, although the Rockets will have final say over which teams they may end up playing for as the team can match any offer made to either Jones or Motiejunas.
Since restricted free agents typically receive a substantial raise over their rookie scale deals, it could also mean that keeping the two players on the roster could prove to be too expensive for the Rockets over the long haul.
According to Bleacher Report, the restricted free agency scenario for both players could also force the Rockets to choose between the two.
If the Rockets ultimately decide against keeping both Jones and Motiejunas on the team, they could dangle one of Jones or Motiejunas as potential trade bait.
Given the age and the production of the two players, they could garner a decent amount of interest from the league, especially from teams starving for frontcourt depth.
As of now, however, no trade scenarios have been mentioned for either player.
