'Heroes of the Storm' news: Matchmaking tweaks implemented in the game

 Battle Net

Matchmaking tweaks have been made inside "Heroes of the Storm" in the hopes of improving the quality of matches for all players.

According to PC Gamer, the new tweaks have basically put match quality as the utmost priority when it comes to pairing up teams inside the game. Previously, the matchmaking the system "Heroes of the Storm" had employed focused more on putting together matches faster as opposed to making sure they were fair and would result in good bouts.

The new system will now be reliant on the player's matchmaking ratings, and it will attempt to find similar combatants based on that. If a player's wait for a match has reached a certain point, then the game will proceed to ease up on its criteria a bit in order to find compatible opponents, although that may lead to slight mismatches.

Blizzard has indicated that mismatches will not be common even with the new matchmaking mechanics in place.

Players will also be able to learn more about both their teammates and their opponents via the loading screens that appear while playing "Heroes of the Storm."

According to Battle Net, a change that has been made to the game's Quick Match mechanic will also prevent teams that are playing without a Warrior hero from being matched up with teams that do have Warrior heroes.

Aside from the matchmaking changes, "Heroes of the Storm" is also in the midst of its holiday-themed event.

The game's Winter Veil event is introducing a variety of new items, including new character skins suitable for the holiday season and a new mount that will be available for free for a limited time.

Players will also be in line to receive bonuses during this holiday season just for playing "Heroes of the Storm."

Various bug fixes have also been made to "Heroes of the Storm" via the latest patch.
