"Grand Theft Auto 6" (GTA 6) may be on the wishlist of many gamers for this holiday season, but the reality is that the next game in the franchise might not be available for a while.

In a recent interview with MCV UK, Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick talked about the company's philosophy when it comes to releasing games.

According to Zelnick, the focus of the company has always been to prioritize quality over quantity, even if that means releasing only a few games every couple of years or so. Zelnick added that the company's philosophy when it comes to releasing games could mean that at times, they are forced to make a decision between postponing an earlier release date for the game or launching it even though it does not meet their exact standards.

The CEO cites the continuing quest for the best quality as a reason behind why some of their big name franchises such as "Grand Theft Auto" take so much time between releases.

Though Zelnick was not referencing any game in particular, his words could be indicative of the fact that "Grand Theft Auto 6" may still be a ways off from being ready.

There have been rumors of "Red Dead Redemption 2" possibly releasing in 2016 as well, and it would be quite a change for Take Two to make that along with "Grand Theft Auto 6" available within the same year.

As for what fans can expect from "Grand Theft Auto 6" when it does come out, the game may not be all that different from the one currently out now, according to the Inquisitr

Take Two has had success following a specific formula with regards to the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise and drastically shifting away from it could represent a way too substantial risk for the company.

Even with the success of "GTA Online," it's still believed that Take Two will not make that the main offering of the next game in the series.
