'Gran Turismo 7' release rumors: New game may be launched in 2017

The long-awaited "Gran Turismo 7" is still without an official release date, although it looks like a more definite window for its launch is emerging.

According to Venture Capital Post, the belief now is that the eagerly anticipated driving game will most likely be ready for launch in 2017, and although that bit of news is unofficial, there are some reasons to believe that it could be a fairly accurate prediction.

First off, a beta for the game has already been announced for a 2016 launch date, PlayStation Lifestyle reported. Betas are typically launched relatively close to the actual game's release date, and even though such is not a rule set in stone, it's still a fair indicator that the title in question, in this case "Gran Turismo 7," is not too far from being a reality. Releasing a beta also means that the game itself is close enough to completion that even a somewhat stripped-down version can now be deemed ready enough to be showcased to the fans.

To be fair, the only official news is that the "Gran Turismo 7" beta will be launched in 2016, meaning it could not even be ready until late in the year, effectively pushing back whatever 2017 release window exists for "Gran Turismo 7."

Another reason to believe that "Gran Turismo 7" could be launched in 2017 is the news that Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida also wants the game to provide support for PlayStation VR, Eurogamer reported.

Sony has big plans for the PlayStation VR and they naturally want it to have a full complement of games ready and able to provide fans with great experiences.

Seeing as how a game such as "Gran Turismo 7" could corner the market on driving titles, it could incentivize Sony and the game's developers to push the project even faster to ensure that it helps support the PlayStation VR as well.
