'God of War 4' release date rumors: Kratos to remain protagonist of next game

If and/or when "God of War 4" is eventually announced, rumors continue to suggest that Kratos will still be the star of it.

According to Bidness ETC, one reason to believe that Kratos will remain as any new game's main protagonist is the conclusion of "God of War 3." The website points to the ending of the last game in particular as the main reason for why Kratos will eventually end up being announced as the hero of the next entry into the franchise.

"God of War 4" may even have its main storyline ready to go if and when it is officially announced, with Kratos and Athena expected to engage in a lengthy feud that will be violent and vicious as would be expected from the franchise.

Still, with the lack of official confirmation from the folks behind the "God of War" franchise, fans are still unsure of what they can really expect from the new game.

Some rumors have even suggested an entirely new story for "God of War 4," with Kratos supposedly taking on the Norse gods instead.

One thing the continued speculation makes clear is that there is a desire for "God of War 4" to be made, but whether or not it will eventually be is still an open question.

According to Crossmap, hints that have been dropped in the "God of War 3 Remastered" trailer would suggest that a new game is indeed in the works. The website indicates the "God of War" logo appearing four different times at the end of the trailer as a possibly subtle nod toward the existence of a new game, although that is still not the official confirmation that some fans are hoping for.

In reality, all fans can do for now is to wait and hope that "God of War 4" is coming sooner rather than later.
