Franklin Graham's Mother-In-Law Passes Away At 91: 'Death Can Come At Any Age'

Franklin Graham's mother-in-law Jane Cunningham passed away last week at the age of 91. As painful as a death in the family could only be, Graham is happy that his wife's mother is now with God in heaven.

On his Facebook page, Graham shared a photo of his wife Jane Austin with her mother and wrote, "My mother-in-law, Jane Cunningham, passed away a few days ago at the age of 91, and we held her funeral service yesterday. I am very thankful that 'Mama Jane' as we all knew her, had trusted Christ long ago and was looking forward to an eternity in Heaven with her Saviour."

His mother-in-law's passing made Graham reflect on mortality, and what people should do with their time here on earth. "Death can come at any age — no one is exempt. And the only thing that matters at that moment is whether we have received Jesus as Lord and Savior in repentance and faith," he says.

He then shared the Bible passage from John 14:1-14, which contained the promise the Son of God made to those who put their faith and trust in Him. The verses read: "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know."

Earlier, Graham wrote about the Sept. 28 shooting in South Carolina where 14-year-old Jesse Osborne shot and killed his own father Jeffrey Osborne, 47, and six-year-old elementary student Jacob Hall. Osborne also shot and wounded another student and a teacher.

Graham said Jesse Osborne could have shot more people if volunteer firefighter Jamie Brock had not tackled the gunman and ended the gunfire. "Who knows how many lives he saved! He's being called a hero, but said that he 'did nothing any of the other volunteer firefighters wouldn't have done.' I thank God for the firefighters, first responders, and law enforcement who are serving every day to protect us," Graham wrote.
