Franklin Graham laments that assault on biblical marriage appears unending

Reverend Franklin Graham is upset that the assault on biblical marriage never seems to end. He said he just found out that some liberal politicians in California have expressed plans to ban the words "husband" and "wife" from being used in federal law.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife." These are the words uttered by the priest as he conducts the wedding ceremony, but now, there might be some changes in the wedding pronouncement now that the US Supreme Court has just legalised same-sex marriage.

"They say these are 'gendered terms' that discriminate against homosexuals. You're absolutely right they are gendered terms — because marriage was created to be gendered!" wrote Graham on his Facebook page.

He stressed that when God created marriage, He defined it as solely between a man and a woman. Sadly, the government has turned this sacred act upside down, he said.

"They have already succeeded in deleting husband and wife from California law last year. Now they want to take it to the national level," he said. "This is shameful! Call your representatives in Congress and the Senate to let them know that you oppose the 'Amend the Code for Marriage Equality Act.' Many wedding ceremonies include the familiar line, 'Speak now or forever hold your peace' – Well we've got to speak now!"

Graham's stance against same-sex marriage has been pretty solid, and this is why he lauded Judge C. Allen McConnell when the latter refused to perform a lesbian marriage despite what the Supreme Court said.

Graham praised McConnell for fearing God more than man, and for standing up for the biblical definition of marriage. "We need more like him! Pray for him and other judges, along with clerks, magistrates, and more who are now faced with the same dilemma. May they be as bold," said the evangelist.
