'Final Fantasy 7' remake release: Could game be headed to Nintendo NX?

"Final Fantasy 7" Square Enix

Square Enix captured the attention of the gaming world earlier this year when they revealed that they would be creating a remake of "Final Fantasy 7," and now there's some interesting rumors surrounding this upcoming game.

There are now rumors circulating online saying that the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will also be making its way to the Nintendo NX console.

It's unclear exactly where this particular rumor began, but it undoubtedly gained more traction after it was announced that "Final Fantasy 7" protagonist Cloud Strfife would be the latest addition to "Super Smash Bros."

Although the rumor is, of course, unconfirmed for now, there is apparently some reason to believe the chatter this time around.

Despite Nintendo and Square Enix having been at odds more than a few times over the years, the relationship between the two gaming companies has apparently gotten better over time, according to Tech Times.

As evidence of this, the website points to another Square Enix title, "Dragon Quest XI," being rumored to be available on the Nintendo NX when it does come out, as well as earlier titles from the franchise also ending up on the Wii U.

The "Final Fantasy 7" remake being available on the NX would most certainly appease a lot of the older fans of Nintendo, and it could be a move that proves beneficial to both sides if it ultimately does come to fruition.

In related news, it was also recently revealed that famed composer Nobuo Uematsu will not be working on the "Final Fantasy 7" remake, according to Movie Pilot.

Uematsu was responsible for many of the memorable music that fans enjoyed in the original "Final Fantasy 7" game.

A replacement for Uematsu has yet to be named, but it's probably a safe bet that the popular composer's work will still appear in the upcoming game.
