"Fallout 4" and "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" are two of the biggest games in Bethesda's library, but is there a deeper connection between those two beyond just having a common creator.
A case could be made that the two games do exist within the same gaming universe, at least if a recently discovered easter egg is any indicator.
Players who want to discover this easter egg will first need to join the Brotherhood of Steel, one of the main factions in the game. Once they are a part of the Brotherhood of Steel and after completing a few storyline and faction-specific missions, players should be able to set foot on the Prydwen.
Once aboard the Prydwen, players can head on over to the ship's research station where they will see a strange yet possibly familiar item depending on their gaming preferences, according to Kotaku.
The item in question is actually known as an Experimental Plant, at least within "Fallout 4," but it bears an almost uncanny resemblance to yet another example of Bethesda-made vegetation, the Nirnroot.
For those who may be unaware, the Nirnroot is a plant found inside "Skyrim." "Fallout 4" even hints at the possible connection that exists between the two games.
A nearby computer reveals that the Experimental Plants have since been named "NRT," which could be shorthand for Nirnroot. On top of that, the Experimental Plant was also said to have bioluminescent properties, or to put in other words, it glows. "Skyrim's" Nirnroots are also known for their glowing properties. The Experimental plants are even referred to as "Glowleafs" at some point.
Cinema Blend theorized that the existence of "Fallout 4's" very own Nirnroots also reveals that the events of this franchise took place prior to the ones that occur inside "The Elder Scrolls," meaning all the magical creatures and mystical happenings of that series were due in part to humanity's fondness for blowing things up with nuclear bombs.
Perhaps, even more examples of the connection between "Fallout 4" and "Skyrim" are just waiting in the Wasteland still waiting to be discovered.
