'Elder Scrolls 6' release date: Still a long way from reality

Fans hoping and waiting for word that Bethesda Softworks is ready to announce "Elder Scrolls 6" any day now will most likely be very disappointed.

There's been nearly absolute silence on Bethesda's front as it relates to any official word about "Elder Scrolls 6," and the tough part for fans truly hoping for any new development regarding the game is that this will most likely remain the status quo for quite a while.

In an interview with Dual Shockers back at Gamescom, Bethesda Vice President of PR and Marketing Pete Hines said that fans are most likely going to need to wait for quite a while if they are looking for anything official regarding "Elder Scrolls 6." Hines even said it will likely take a "very long time" before Bethesda even decides on what they will be working on after their current project.

Speaking of their current project, if there is a reason why Bethesda is holding off the release of news regarding "Elder Scrolls 6," it is most likely because the studio is currently focused completely on finishing "Fallout 4."

Hines indicated that work on "Fallout 4" will continue even after the game is officially launched on Nov. 10, as the team will then shift their attention towards preparing different kinds of downloadable content (DLC) and mod support for it.

With all the work and time Bethesda is expected to expend on "Fallout 4," it is not at all surprising that the studio may be unwilling to discuss anything else right now, even a big game such as "Elder Scrolls 6."

Hearing Hines talk about the prospects of a timeline for "Elder Scrolls 6" confirms that the game will not be released in March of next year, according to Design and Trend.

Rumors of the March 2016 release date for the game popped up earlier this year, but now, it appears that fans of the "Elder Scrolls" franchise will just have to remain in a holding pattern until official word comes out.
