Christians called to pray for Muslims during Ramadan

Open Doors USA has launched a campaign to urge Christians to pray for Muslims during the month of Ramadan.

Hundreds of millions of Muslims will observe Ramadan beginning August 11, fasting from dawn until sunset.

Open Doors has put together a prayer calendar that has multiple prayer points which Christians could pray for.

The Ramadan Prayer Calendar also has prayer requests for Christians who face persecution in Muslim nations.

“This is an extraordinary time for praying for both Christians and Muslims in Islamic nations,” says Open Doors USA President Carl Moeller.

“The season of Ramadan gives Christians in the West an entire month to focus on praying for these individuals.”

According to Open Doors, there are at least 200 Muslim people groups of over 100,000 people who do not have any Christian witness.

Highlighting the importance of prayer during Ramadan, Open Doors said it hears testimonies from Muslims to whom Jesus has directly revealed through dreams and visions during Ramadan.

"Our prayers can go where we cannot. While many things may seem impossible from a human standpoint, in the realm of prayer there are no impossibilities," says Open Doors founder Brother Andrew.

The call for prayer is not just for Muslims. Open Doors has also strongly urged prayers for persecuted Christians in Muslim nations.

Eight of the top 10 countries on the 2010 Open Doors World Watch List have Islamic governments, as do 35 of the top 50 on the list. The annual World Watch List exposes the worst persecutors of Christians.
