Borderlands 2 PS Vita players can cross-save to PlayStation 3 via new patch

A PlayStation 3 patch is giving PlayStation Vita owners of Borderlands 2 cross-save functionality.

The patch out today allows gamers to play the same save file on both the PS3 and the PS Vita.

The announcement was made by Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, via Twitter

"PS3 owners can now transfer their save file to Vita & vice versa.  Happy Vault hunting!" he tweeted.

The popular loot and shoot game has six previously released DLC packs:

  • Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty
  • Mr Tongue's Campaign of Carnage
  • Psycho Character Class
  • Mechromancer Character Class
  • Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1
  • Collector's Edition Pack

It's already been five years since the original Borderlands hit the gaming world with the Vault Hunters, Roland, Mordecai, Lilith and Brick.

It was a surprise hit, shifting around four and a half million units since its release.

Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2 will be coming out in PAL territories on May 28.
